Director Agriculture and Environment at IDRC
The International Development Research Centre (IDCR) is inviting for applications as director for the Agriculture and Environment (AE) program area, which focuses on the connection between agricultural development and environmental sustainability in time of global changes.
The AE program area is composed of four program units that were launched in April 2010 for a period of five years:
- Agriculture and Food Security (AFS),
- Ecosystems and Human Health (Ecohealth),
- Climate Change and Water (CCW), and
- Environmental Economics (EE).
The successful candidate is intended to provide strategic intelligence and to promote effective utilizations in the design and execution of the program area. Moreover, the candidate will provide intellectual leadership in research development and the identification of new research areas, and will contribute to policy development, planning, management as well as the evaluation of the program Area at corporate and regional levels. Further, the director will manage a team of professionals and support staff in a matrix environment based in Ottawa and overseas Regional Offices, and will strive to enhance and expand partnerships with Canadian and international agencies of other developed and developing regions.
The successful candidate should hold a PhD in a discipline directly related to the Program Area (e.g. agricultural, natural or environmental sciences) and publications related to environmental research for development.
