European Climate Adaptation Platform CLIMATE-ADAPT
On 23 March, the European Commission launched CLIMATE-ADAPT, the "European Climate Adaptation Platform". The platform is developed for the European Commission by a consortium led by Alterra. It supports the development of the knowledge base required for policy development on climate adaptation on the European, (trans)national, regional and local levels. It supports policy makers and other stakeholders in decision making on climate adaptation.
CLIMATE-ADAPT focusses among others on learning from practice and provides a number of interactive tools to support this. Moreover, users can share their information with the aim of creating a living and growing knowledge platform, fed from adaptation practice.
The launch of the CLIMATE-ADAPT platform was performed at the European Environment Agency (EEA) in Copenhagen by the EC Commissioner for Climate Action Conny Hedegaard, the Danish Minister for the Environment Ida Auken and EEA Executive Director Jacqueline McGlade.
Commissioner Connie Hedegaard on CLIMATE-ADAPT: "This can be a tremendous tool helping decision makers to choose the best solutions to the benefit of their citizens. We are too bad at sharing best practices as well as information on what not to do. This new interactive tool will make efforts much more efficient."
