Impact Assessment Board Report for 2010

Date:
24/01/2011

The Impact Assessment Board published a report on its work from 2010. It evaluates recent developments in the IA system, examines the quality of Impact Assessments and gives recommendations for further improvement. The IAB reviewed 66 IA reports and issued 83 opinions.

According to the IAB, the overall quality of Impact Assessment has improved: The consultation with stakeholders is more frequent and impacts are more often quantified and the compliance with procedural standards has improved. The IAB sees, however, still room for improvement: The readability of the reports can be improved, important qualitative impacts should be highlighted, steering groups should play a more important role in shaping the process, the value added by European action should be better presented, the consultation should be better documented and sensitivity analysis should be applied for quantified impacts.
