International Symposium on "Limits to the Anthropocene: What are the Boundaries of Human Intervention Into Nature?", University of Hamburg
This international symposium will focus on the social, ethical and natural boundaries of human interventions into nature. It will be held from 22-24 September, 2011 at the University of Hamburg.
It aims at bringing together experts from the natural and social sciences, economists, environmental activists and others to provide a platform for an interdisciplinary discussion. The participants will discuss the characteristics, effects and limits of human interventions into nature as well as the challenges they pose for science and society. The symposium is organized in six panels that focus on (1) Mineral Resources, (2) Land and Water Use, (3) Ecosystems and Biodiversity, (4) Climate Change and Climate Engeneering, (5) Energy Generation and Consumption, and (6) Geohazards and Natural Disasters.
If you are interested in giving a talk in one of the panels, please submit an abstract until 31 May.
