Planet under Pressure 2012 Conference

Date:
26/03/2012

The conference, organised by four Global Change research programmes, aims to provide a comprehensive update of the pressure planet Earth is now under. It will discuss solutions at all scales to move societies on to a sustainable pathway. It aims at providing scientific leadership towards the 2012 UN Conference on Sustainable Development - Rio+20. Three broad themes will guide the conference:

  • Meeting global needs: food, energy, water and other ecosystem services
  • Transforming our way of living: development pathways under global environmental change
  • Governing across scales: innovative stewardship of the Earth system

The Planet under Pressure conference programme will be a combination of plenary sessions involving international figureheads and experts in the field, followed by parallel sessions covering a wide range of topics within the broad themes of the conference. Key events and poster sessions will take place during lunchtimes and early evenings, respectively.

The deadline for early bird registration is 20 January, 2012. More information and a complete programme are available on the conference website.
