Public Consultation on the Implementation and Ratification of the Nagoya Protocol on Access to genetic resources and Benefit Sharing arising out of their utilization (ABS)

Following the adoption of the Nagoya protocol on Access to genetic resources and Benefit sharing (ABS) on 29 October, 2010, the Commission has undertaken steps towards its implementation and ratification by the EU. Within this scope the Commission is launching a consultation of stakeholders to explore the possible effects of the Protocol and to gather concrete proposals on the practical challenges of the implementation.

The European Commission welcomes contributions from:

  • Industries,

  • Academic researchers,

  • Organisations, Indigenous and Local Communities (ILCs), NGOs and others with interest in the field of genetic resources (GR) and associated traditional knowledge (TK).
